Doris Metropolitan, a New Orleans based Steakhouse, and long-term client of ours, was in need of an updated website to showcase their 3 locations.
See it in actionWhen you visit Doris Metropolitan, it’s all about the the food, the atmosphere, and the experience. When designing the site, we created an image heavy site with mouth watering food photography as well as pictures of the New Orleans atmosphere. We combined that with some hand drawn illustrations that bring out the unique flavors of the menu.
When designing restaurant websites, we know that users are most likely accessing the site from their mobile devices. They are most likely checking out the menu, looking for directions, or booking a reservation. We keep these behaviors in mind, and make deliberate decisions for the mobile experience of the website.
Doris Metropolitan has an on-site butcher, so we took our design inspiration from vintage butcher diagrams. Our designers worked on some hand-drawn illustrations to add character and texture to the website layout. We love finding opportunities to utilize our illustration skills in projects where they fit, and this certainly fit the bill.
After revamping the website, it only made sense to redesign the restaurant menu’s to match the new website. We carried over the same styling from the online menus for consistency. We kept the menu designs minimal, allowing for the restaurant to update and change their menu easily and frequently without altering the structure.
